FAQ

Is ozone dangerous to humans?

Ozone can be dangerous, but when used in the right way, like in our Sanispace products, it is safe. Low levels of ozone are all around us and are safe to breathe. Exposure to high levels of ozone in a room is not recommended. We use a safe amount of ozone in our products.

Our Sanispace 60H eliminates the existing Ozone in the air that it sucks in. It then adds the correct amount of Ozone and blows out air that contains a safe amount that is below the recommended hazard level of 0,1 ppm. We produce up to 0,04 ppm at a stable level, which is the same level in nature on a sunny day.

Our Sanispace 125 and Sanispace 250 produce more Ozone than is recommended for longer periods of time. They do so in order to clean the air. While these products are operating, people are not allowed in the room.

It is very important for Sanispaces that we can control the ozone level as we care about people’s health and safety.

Can I stay in a room that is being treated with ozone?

Yes, you can stay in the room then the Sanispace 60H is operating, but not when the Sanispace 125 and Sanispace 250 are operating.
It is important to stress that ozone plays an important part in nature and that people cannot survive without this kind of gas. However, you must also be aware that ozone is an oxidizing agent and it should be used with care and in a controlled manner, like in the Sanispace products. When Sanispace products are being operated according to our guidelines, these products are safe to use. You can find these guidelines on the individual product page on this website in the product section

The technology, developed by Jimco, has been developed over the last 25 years and used in machines producing the most environmentally friendly form of ozone. The technology is inspired by the UV-light that is developed by the ozone-producing rays of the sun. That means that only the clean kind ozone is produced by our low-voltage lamps and not the kind produced in high-voltage-production units such as Xerox machines, welding units, etc. where dangerous Nitric Oxide (NOX) is produced in the same process as the ozone. NOX can enter into the bloodstream and cause serious damage to the human body.

Can ozone cause skin eruption?

Sanispaces has no knowledge of skin eruption associated with the use of ozone produced with UV-light. It is whoever correct, that it is not recommended that people or animals are present during treatment of a room with ozone when using one or several of the Sanispace 125 or Sanispace 250.
If you stay in the room during treatment with these two Sanispace models, your eyes and throat can dry out and become irritated, as they can develop an ozone level that surpasses the recommended values.

Danish damage service companies have started using Sanispaces low-voltage UV-light-based ozone solutions as a replacement to previous used high-voltage ozone solutions as these are very dangerous to your health.

Is UV-C light dangerous to humans?

Yes, direct exposure to UV-C light is dangerous. It can cause rapid sunburn and skin cancer. Exposure of the eyes to this UV radiation can produce painful inflammation of the cornea, temporary or permanent vision impairment, and in some severe cases blindness.

It’s important that UV-C light source is shielded and protected by special equipment, and that’s why the UV-C light source in the Sanispaces products are shielded.
Your safety is our highest priority.

Can rubber and electrical wires/cables be damaged if ozone is present?

It is correct that ozone affects all organic compounds.
There is, however, a considerable difference whether it is used continuously or just a time-limited treatment.
There is no risk in using the Sanispace compact cleaner in your car.

There is no risk in using the compact cleaner in offices and in private homes, as the compact cleaners are not powerful enough to fill such large rooms with high concentrations of ozone to damaged cables and rubber.
We recommend that you always follow the guidelines for each product. These can be found on the individual product pages on this site

Sanispaces use special UV-C lamps to produce ozone. What is the difference between the Sanispaces method and the ozone produced by high voltage (Corona Discharge)?

Sanispaces only use low-voltage ozone-applying UV-lamps. This means that clean ozone without any other compounds is made.

If you would use high-voltage lamps to produce ozone, then oxygen combines with nitrogen. This means that NOX is produced contrary to ozone produced by UV-lamps – and Nitric Oxide (NOX) is an environmental problem.

High-voltage ozone generators must therefore always be used adding clean oxygen – e.g. from an oxygen cylinder or from an oxygen generator.

However, when you produce ozone by means of low-voltage UV-light you do not have the necessary energy available to produce NOX. That is the reason why the Sanispaces method is preferable when you care about your employees and the environment.

What happens if a compact cleaner produces more ozone than necessary?

If you feel that the compact cleaner produces too much ozone, because it basically has finished cleaning, or you forget to turn off the machine, there is no danger; with Sanispace 60H it is not possible to produce an excess amount of ozone, this model is designed to be used throughout the day. The Ozone level in the room stabilizes with a level below the smell limit, depending on the room size.

The smell limit for ozone is different from person to person but is considered around 0,02 ppm. After this, the ozone begins to smell like a photocopy machine, that has copied many copies in a row. The Danish Working Environment Service has set the limit value for ozone in a working area at 0,1 ppm. The Sanispace 60H cannot produce enough ozone to exceed the limit set by the Danish Working Environment Service.

The Sanispace 125 and Sanispace 250 are more powerful and designed to ”shock treat” rooms, cars, containers etc. These models are used to create an ozone residue in the room, once the required level is reached they can be turned off. If one of these models are used in a room for too long, the amount of ozone can exceed the limit of the Danish Working Environment Service. No people are allowed in the room while the Sanispace 125 or 250 is in use.

Can the Sanispace 125 and Sanispace 250 be used to disinfect and remove Listeria and similar bacterias?

Yes, both the Sanispace 125 and Sanispace 250 has been tested and proved to kill Listeria.

Sanispace 60H uses the exact same technology.

Listeria is one of the most resistant and strongest bacteria. As it has been tested and certified that the Sanispace 125 and Sanispace 250 technology can eliminate Listeria, other similar bacterias would also be eliminated.

Can Sanispaces' Sanispace 60H be helpful to asthmatic patients or improve their quality of life?

Yes, Sanispaces 60H has has been beneficial for several asthmatic patients. It has improved their quality of life, and in some cases, has been beneficial that they stopped their medicine and started doing activities they could not do before.

Can COPD patients benefit from Sanispaces air purifiers?

There are cases showing that using the Sanispace 60H to clean and purify rooms can help COPD patients reduce or stop their coughing and even reduce or stop taking their medicine.
